I would like to hear from others whose child has features of either syndromes.Answer:
Hi! My son, Bryan, had his palate surgery at the end of September. We don't have any symptoms of Goldenhar's, but I know someone who does. Kurt Dykhuizen, who plays Jason on Barney and Friends, has Goldenhar's Syndrome. He is eleven years old, and has had 17 surgeries. He has had a jaw distraction (for hemofacial microsoma), cleft palate repair, spinal fusion, mylocele closure and 5 ear reconstruction surgeries. He has a conductive hearing loss, but hears very well with aids. His mother, Beth Dykhuizen, is a wonderful woman who would love to provide you with a wealth of information about what it is like to have a child with Goldenhar's. Her address is:
