Cleft-Talk: How to Subscribe
To subscribe to Cleft-Talk:
Send email to: majordomo@bmtmicro.com
Subject: Leave blank*
(or if you are required to type in something, just type in 'None')Message: subscribe cleft_talk2
You will receive an email asking you to verify your subscription to the list.
This is to weed out unsolicited list subscriptions. (Yes, there are mean people
out there who subscribe others they do not like to all kinds of lists just to fill up their
mailbox.)
The final step is to wait for and reply to the authorization message you are
sent by hitting REPLY, then SEND - do not type anything else - just reply.
That's it! Thanks. If you have more problems you need addressed please feel free to email Joanne at josmiles@aol.com
Also, take time now to go to Cleft Talk Commands - It has a complete list of commands for Cleft Talk including how to UNSUBSCRIBE, Digest Mode and more. BOOKMARK THIS PAGE!!!!
For more help on Internet topics, go to Cleft Links/Internet section.
It is recommended that you start by reading the CT FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) - Who we are, what we do/do not discuss, topics of discussion.
To respond to a message on the list, hit the "reply" function of your email program or input 'cleft_talk2@bmtmicro.com' in the "To:" area. To post your own message, simply send email to cleft-talk2@bmtmicro.com (However, it will not work unless you subscribe first).
And, if you are new to the internet: Read our Cleft Talk Netiquette file. It explains email protocol. Additionally, these "Netiquette" ("Email Etiquette) tips will provide you with a more pleasant online experience:
- Do NOT send image file attachments to the list (ie - scanned pictures). Rather, announce to the list that you have photos to share; and do so via private email.
- Do NOT forward internet virus "news" or similar stories that you receive urging you to "Send to as many people as you can". These are more than likely hoaxes. For more information on hoaxes you can use a search engine (ie - Yahoo, Excite, etc). Here is one site for information:
- Do NOT allow your email program to automatically quote the entire message you are responding to. If you need help with this topic, go to the Cleft Links/Internet section and look for "How to use the Quoting Feature in Email".
Also available is a discussion list, called CTTEEN, for teens and young adults who were born with cleft lip or palate.
