Statement of Goals
To monitor depictions in the media of
persons with craniofacial differences.
To educate the public and the media
about what persons with craniofacial differences find offensive,
stereotypical, and/or inaccurate and why it is harmful.
To advocate and provide reinforcement
for fair, accurate, sensitive, and balanced depictions craniofacial
differences and of persons with craniofacial differences in all facets of
print and the media.
To discourage and fight for the end of
stereotyping of persons with craniofacial differences.
To hold individuals accountable for
unfair or derogatory statements made in print or the media about persons
with craniofacial differences.
To serve as a resource for accuracy of
information regarding craniofacial differences.
To act as a watchdog/advocacy
organization capable of representing the concerns of persons world-wide
who live with the challenges of craniofacial differences.
To encourage increased news coverage of
significant issues of concern to persons dealing with craniofacial issues.
To foster an environment of increased
sensitivity toward, and respect for, the dignity of persons with
craniofacial differences.
To improve the present state of the
treatment and portrayals of persons with craniofacial differences in the
media and in society.
