Cody
Cody was born on September 1, 1997 with a complete bilateral cleft palate (Pierre Robin). His pictures are presented to you by his parents, Tonya and Martin.

Here is our family. Due to Cody's breathing problems we were only able to hold him on a pillow for the first 4 days.

 

Here's Dad gavage feeding Cody. Formula is put in a syringe, attached to a feeding tube, and allowed to drain into Cody's stomach. We tried several bottles and nipples, but Cody would not accept them for a few months.

Mom and Cody in the mist tent shortly after coming out of recovery. Cody's palate surgery took about 3 1/2 hours with both the hard and soft palates being closed at the same time. Surgery was performed at 20 months to allow for maximum jaw growth and decrease the possibility of breathing difficulties after surgery.

At 3 days post-op, Cody is recovering very well and doesn't mind the arm restraints at all.

At 28 months, Cody is fully recovered from his palate repair. He is fistula-free and making small steps in developing his speech.
