Emily's Lip Repair Surgery

Mom and Dad (Nancy and Eddie) and Emily the morning of the surgery.

Emily is all smiles. Mom and Dad are relieved to see that the morning is going so well.

8 or 9 hours after surgery, Mom is now holding an awake Emily! She had been smiling and was very pleasant. We were trying to get some milk into her with the Ross nipple and Mead Johnson bottle. It was not very successful, but it did keep her mouth moistened. She returned to breast feeding about 12 hours after surgery.

This picture is taken 4 days post op. Emily is doing so well we are on our way out to a birthday party! (She is wearing arm restraints under her sleeves.)

This picture was taken about 1 week post op. Emily is still wearing the homemade arm restraints cut to half size, made out of half length tongue depressors and wash cloths. We ran out of medical tape and discovered that packing tape worked well - we were in the midst of packing for a move that took place when Emily was 3 weeks post op!
