Erika's Lip and Nose Surgery
These are pictures of Erika's Lip and Nose Surgery which took
place on June 13, 1997.
| This was taken on 6/13/97, the morning of
Erika's lip and nose surgery. It a very early morning, about 5 AM in this picture. Erika
was very sleepy.
|
Erika and Mommy (Charlotte), not long after
Erika came out of recovery. Erika is sleeping comfortably and sporting her Pedi Wrap arm
restraints. Mommy is very tired after only 2 hours of sleep the night before, and very
happy to have Erika back in her arms again.
|
| A close up of Erika right out of recovery.
The gauze on her nose is to hold the nasal stent her surgeon places in the nose to keep
its shape. She looked great and only needed Tylenol for her pain.
|
This is Erika several hours after surgery.
She is awake, but groggy. It took her several attempts before she would keep her eyes open
without crying. Her face is swelling slightly. She is in her Daddy's arms. Her swelling
reached its peak around midnight. By the next morning, it had decreased considerably.
|
| This is Erika the morning after the surgery.
She was tucked tightly in her hospital crib with towels and sheets to keep her from
rolling. Before we did this, she got out of one of her arm restraints and she rolled
sideways and bumped her nose. It started bleeding. This really scared us, so we rigged the
crib so that there was no way she could move. She has always been an active girl!

Erika sleeping in Daddy's arms the day after
surgery (6/14/97). Daddy (Bryan) and Erika look equally exhausted! She was eating very
well from her cups and ready to be discharged. At this point we were just waiting for the
doctor's approval to head home.

the hospital for the comforts of home. (6/14/97).
|
Erika begins to smile again. This is 2 days
after surgery. That timid little smile melted our hearts and made it all worthwhile. Her
wide smile was sadly gone, but her new smile was equally as adorable.
|
| Erika, 5 days after surgery. She is getting a
break from her arm restraints. She is slowly getting back to herself again.
|
Erika and Mommy 6 days after surgery. Erika
just got her stitches taken out (6/19/97) and now sports steri-strips. Mommy is so proud
of her Angel's progress! We made it through a rough week, but are so happy it is all
behind us.

9 days after surgery. Daddy and Erika hang out together. Daddy has the remote and Erika has her Daddy.
Look at those gorgeous smiles! |
