These photos are chosen and presented to you by Tanya herself, and she speaks for herself in her captions.
Hello! Thank you for looking at my lovely photos! Let me tell
you a bit about myself first (just the bare facts!). I am seventeen, and was
born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate. My last major operation was a bone
graft at age ten, and my next - and final - operation will be in about two years
--
that will be to move my upper jaw forward and lower jaw backwards. Fear less, hope more, |

Tanya's Senior Portrait - Age 17, November 1996
All men and women are born, live, suffer, and die; what distinguishes us from one another is our dreams, whether they be dreams about worldly or unworldly things, and what we do to make them come about... We do not choose to be born. We do not choose our parents. We do not choose our historical epoch, the country of our birth, or the immediate circumstances of our upbringing. We do not, most of us, choose to die; nor do we choose the time and conditions of our death. But within this realm of choicelessness, we do choose how we live. -Joseph Epstein |

Here's the most recent photo of myself. I'm on the left, on the right is my cousin Gina. This was taken March 9, 1998, right after our return from our Spring Break roadtrip to Florida |
